According to the government, Moderna is investing more than a £1bn in UK research and development as part of a 10-year partnership to create new treatments jobs and boost pandemic resilience.

Chief executive Emma Walmsley said GSK plans to keep investing in its UK manufacturing base and will continue spending over £1.5bn yearly on research and development from the country.

The tech company leased a warehouse in the Mission District last month that will serve as a research and development space to advance its autonomous delivery technology, a June letter sent to San Francisco Zoning Administrator Corey Teague shows.

DoorDash confirmed on Wednesday that the company will use the facility to test autonomous delivery technology and support research and development for its robotics and automation arm.

The investment will add to Amgen’s existing research and development operations at its global headquarters in Ventura County, as well as its eight other locations across the United States, Canada and Europe.
