Battlefield 6, which has been a huge hit for rival gaming giant Electronic Arts, has been drawing attention away from its veteran competitor.

The company had beefed up its staff after acquiring four gaming businesses — Glendale-based Night School, Boss Fight Entertainment out of Allen, Texas, Finland-based Next Games and Spry Fox based in Seattle.

That would be the Hard Rock Casino Tejon, whose opening on Thursday brings industrial-strength Indian gaming — and some Hollywood pizzazz — to a territory better known for cowboy hats, farmland and petroleum extraction.

It is a spiritual sequel to the 2014 device of the same name, which failed to break into a market dominated by the three big gaming giants.

The Shenzhen-based firm is a major player in the global gaming industry, and has sizeable operations in other fields including cloud computing, entertainment and artificial intelligence.
