HBCUs like Bowie State, which opened a first-of-its-kind LGBTQ health center, are at the forefront of prioritizing and addressing LGBTQ issues, according to a report by Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions and the Human Rights Campaign.

In these cases, the first dose gives your body what’s known as a “primary response,” says Bowie State’s Debbink, which causes your body to start making antibodies for that specific pathogen.
