Alveolate: Marked by depressions separated by thin walls so as to resemble a honeycomb (Fig. 144).

Plants large, subglobose, with alveolate, sinuate carbonous exterior.

Sometimes the calymma is alveolate and foamy, as in Nassella and the common Thalassicolla.

The feet are two to three times as long as the shell, irregularly curved and distinctly alveolate, without appendages.

Spores alveolate or muriculate, usually flattened and angular.
