What happens to the AI trade right now depends on the confidence of this relatively small group of venture capitalists, corporate CEOs, and private-equity executives.

But experts say it also signals a maturing of India's start-up ecosystem after a painful funding winter where money had all but dried up and early-stage venture capitalists were finding it difficult to cash out.

For more than a decade, Silicon Valley venture capitalists have poured enormous sums of money into newfangled technology companies seeking to disrupt, and even supplant, the traditional financial system and sidestep its burdensome regulations.

“The notion that somebody would leave New York simply because Mamdani is elected is silly,” said Brad Tusk, a venture capitalist who formerly managed Bloomberg’s third campaign for mayor and later advised his administration.

In a shareholder letter, he said Palantir “has made it possible for retail investors to achieve rates of return previously limited to the most successful venture capitalists in Palo Alto.”
