A new one is that the NFL is so powerful that it can let voracious private equity firms through its gates and say, “Pffft, we are not worried about what might happen next.”

If you are watching with me, you will hear me making "pffft" noises in response.

“You have to make a ‘pffft’ noise with your lips in order to generate the sound.”

“But Duke? Pffft. Why bother saving him? He’s never been very nice to you or me or Nala or anybody!”

What you will see in all the stories about this, the accused being guiltless until proven otherwise, is a variant of the question that former Reagan labor secretary Ray Donovan asked the press when a federal corruption case against him went pffft: “Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?”
