For the third quarter, the Berkeley, Calif.-based developer of superconducting quantum integrated circuits for quantum computers reported a smaller-than-expected adjusted loss of 3 cents a share on revenue of $1.9 million.

M’Saad said that logic and foundry orders—those from customers seeking to produce the integrated circuits that power smartphones, computers and other electronic devices—had improved lately.

It’s led some analysts to wonder if Google’s application-specific integrated circuits are chipping into Nvidia’s stronghold in the market for AI semiconductors.

The chip company’s application-specific integrated circuits, which are designed to handle specific AI tasks, compete with graphics processing units from Nvidia Corp.

They see no “air pocket” in revenue for custom-designed integrated circuits due to the steady rollout of new products.
