According to Merlis’ announcement, the brothers also worked with Phil Spector at L.A.’s storied Gold Star studio on Santa Monica Boulevard, where the Beach Boys recorded portions of “Pet Sounds” and “Good Vibrations” and where Spector developed his so-called Wall of Sound technique in the early 1960s.

“I think it’s popular because Britas are plastic. And plastic is becoming really not chic,” says Sabrina Lemus, a Los Feliz resident who jokingly self-describes as “wellness-pilled” and keeps crystals under her Berkey to charge the water with good vibrations.

Selvin shows the handsome, blond, 6-foot, 4-inch drummer in the studio playing on Brian Wilson’s masterpiece “Good Vibrations” and driving the beat of a 24-piece orchestra on the Mason Williams 1968 instrumental hit “Classical Gas.”

The three Wilson brothers — Brian, Carl and Dennis — along with cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine, brought a harmonic revolution to group vocals with their Southern California sound that brightened the 1960s with songs like “I Get Around,” “Good Vibrations” and “God Only Knows.”
