He’s now in the lead to become the Copper State’s next U.S. senator, even as Trump is ahead of Harris in a state Joe Biden won in 2020.

The National Weather Service said many areas in the Copper State have received more rain in the past month than in the entire 2020 monsoon season.

Residents of the Copper State – which has been ravaged by wildfires, some sparked by lightning, both before and during the state's monsoon season – watched, snapped photos and recorded videos as floodwaters flowed through intersections and lifted cars in residential neighborhoods.

The Copper State's demographics have shifted with the introduction of younger voters who tend to favor Democrats, as well as an influx of Latinx voters, securing the state's status as a toss-up.
