A secondary school in Cheshire has been shut to deep clean the building after high levels of pupil sickness.

A Jewish former classmate of Nigel Farage has told the BBC the Reform UK leader is being "fundamentally dishonest" by suggesting former pupils who say they witnessed his racism are not telling the truth.

"We are ready to give everything to ensure that the remaining pupils and their teachers still in captivity are rescued unhurt," he said, in a statement issued after talks with the state governor.

The mayor's funding pays for meals for children in Years 3-6, as pupils in Reception and Years 1 and 2 automatically receive free lunches under a central government scheme.

Steel said some of his pupils have gone on to graduate from medical school.
