Over the past two months, the US has been steadily building up a force of warships, fighter jets, marines, spy planes, bombers and drones in the Caribbean, which it has framed as part of a crackdown on drug-trafficking and "narco-terrorists".

It is set to remain in the small Caribbean nation until Thursday, during which time a contingent of US Marines will conduct joint training with local defense forces.

Marines conduct training exercises with Trinidad’s defense forces, the government here said.

U.S. troops from the Army, Marines and Space Force are represented.
