That’s why the beverage company recently decided to discontinue half of them, shedding brands like Tab, Zico coconut water, Diet Coke Fiesty Cherry and Odwalla juices but still leaving about 200 others to choose from.

The one thing Coolidge didn’t have enough of was beverages, so she loaded her cart with sparkling water, Diet Coke — both caffeinated and non — and Gatorade Zero.

“During normal times, we don’t tend to think about it as much, but, in a drought, it’s important to really look for those extra opportunities to go on a little water diet,” said Ellen Hanak, director of the Public Policy Institute of California’s Water Policy Center.

It shed multiple slow-selling brands this year, including Tab, Zico coconut water, Diet Coke Fiesty Cherry and Odwalla juices.

Coca-Cola Co. also announced last week that it was retiring several products this year, including Tab, Zico coconut water, Diet Coke Fiesty Cherry and regional offerings like Northern Neck Ginger Ale.
