Terns and gannets were amongst the birds of the coastal waters.
A fleet of terns floated motionless on the water beyond the island.
Then the terns snap them up, and put them down their little red throats.
In India, wherever there are rivers, jhils, or ponds there are terns to be found.
It is the least beautiful of the terns, being more heavily built than most of them.
Needless to remark, these lochs are favourite haunts of Gulls and Terns.
The terns at the jhil are all of the black-bellied species (Sterna melanogaster).
They breed in large colonies, often in company with other gulls and terns.
Like the majority of terns, these breed in immense colonies.
The terns regard the inland waters of Hindustan as their preserve.
