In the graveyard is a curious collection of stoups and water-bowls.
A recent visit to these places made me aware of the existence of the stoups.
Note the stoups on either side of the W. doorway; the carvings (part of the original fabric) in the spandrels above.
Note the ancient woodwork and restored oak porch, also two stoups, one within and the other outside the church.
And now stoups of claret circled round the table, certainly in an increased ratio of rapidity.
The hill was steep and the stoups heavy, but I managed to carry them back one at a time and placed them on the bench.
It had no piazzas, or stoups, and was still without external windows, one range excepted.
Given to Thomas Anderson for the two stoups and the two steaves (to which the women were tied), 30s.
Seeing one of the serving-men coming from the buttery Jasper called out to him, commanding him to bring two stoups of small ale.
Other interesting items are the finely sculptured font and stoups at the north and south doors.
