Fire crews should soon receive assistance with the arrival of rain and possible snow as a winter storm warning is in effect in Mono County from 1 p.m.

A tropical storm warning is in place for the Turks and Caicos Islands and the speed of the slow-moving hurricane is expected to increase in the coming days.

"Since we're operating farther away, it's not always possible to return quickly when there's a storm warning," he said.

A winter storm warning is in effect until 5 p.m.
