In Season 4, where Vecna is first introduced, the team built full-body prosthetics based on concept art for the character that took roughly eight hours to apply on Bower.

He gained about 40 pounds, wore a wig and dyed his eyebrows since he did not want to rely on prosthetics.

“It was the innocence in Jacob’s portrayal that kept getting me,” says makeup artist and prosthetics designer Mike Hill.

For six months, the actor spent more time in monster makeup than out of it, with muscled prosthetics layered onto his body and deep fissures painted onto his skin.
