A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot a woman suspected of vandalism Saturday in Covina after she attacked the officer’s vehicle with a pipe wrench, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

His brother, Maxwell Ervin, testified that his brother attacked their father with a pipe wrench and a folding knife, alleging that Ray Ervin was an imposter.

The father heard his wife scream, “David, no,” then ran upstairs and saw his son holding a pipe wrench.

Authorities say the victims were beaten with a large pipe wrench, the Star Tribune reported.

In the end, DeAngelo would kill the couple anyway by shooting or bludgeoning them — with a pipe wrench or a sprinkler head or a fireplace log.
