Eli had been lying down for hours in his stall yesterday in Trabuco Canyon, unable to stand and suffering from painful colic that would have been fatal if he remained down too long.

They can range from simply sitting close together and talking with an arm around them, to lying down and spooning.

I managed to grab an hour's sleep in some public toilets and had some power naps lying down on the trail.

It will take way longer than any of us hope, but better than lying down and just letting the worst happen.
