After being on the warmer side of the jet stream, the UK will be on the colder side of it.

In a traditional cold front that is pushed by the jet stream, forecasters can usually narrow the period of peak expected rainfall to between six and nine hours.

This pattern will change, and from being on the warmer side of the jet stream the UK will be on the colder side of it.

Because the low-pressure system powering the storm is not pushed along by the jet stream, “it will just spin around like a top and go where it pleases — very difficult to predict,” Kittell said.
