Where a recipe calls for cream, it is heavy cream.

Use cold heavy cream and a splash of vanilla — or almond extract, if you’re feeling lush.

The soup base can also be incorporated with heavy cream to make a decadent, spring-themed pasta sauce that pairs well with seafood, like grilled salmon or pan seared shrimp.

Then whip heavy cream until airy and gently fold it into the base.
