"I think she'll be a good girly now," says grand-daddy, gentle-like.
Grand-daddy watched her as she wiped away a tear and sighed wearily.
"I have a message from our woodfolk, Grand-daddy," began Nimble-toes.
It is the first time that Grand-daddy Whiskers ever broke a promise to me.
"Fetch that creoline bottle, Silvy," repeated Grand-daddy sternly.
"You'll find your cows there," said grand-daddy longlegs, and then he hurried home to his dinner.
"I really feel called to go, Granny," argued Grand-daddy earnestly.
"Better leave a little soreness in, Grand-daddy," said Mother Graymouse.
The proud owner spoke of his creation much as a grand-daddy sizes up a new baby in his son's family.
Grand-daddy and Granny Whiskers sat in the chimney corner waiting patiently for their supper.
