The physical embodiment of this character comes courtesy of none other than Ken Watanabe, the acclaimed actor known in Hollywood for films ranging from “The Last Samurai” and “Memoirs of a Geisha” to “Letters from Iwo Jima” and “Godzilla: King of Monsters.”

The deal allows Warner Bros. to continue to distribute some films, including co-productions “Dune: Part Three” in 2026 and “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova” in 2027.

“Trainwreck” went up against nine other theatrical re-releases, including “Black Swan,” “Shin Godzilla” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” the last of which made only a few more dollars per screen than “Trainwreck.”
