HMS Prince of Wales, which docked in Singapore on Monday, is one of the UK Navy's largest ships with a flight deck large enough to fit three football pitches.

The team sees the Proteus taking off from a Royal Navy frigate, flying to pre-set co-ordinates, dropping the high-tech buoys, then returning to the flight deck.

Flight 2494 was preparing for departure to Indianapolis when "a bullet apparently struck the right side of the aircraft under the flight deck", a Southwest spokesperson told the BBC's US partner, CBS News.

“More than just names and ranks, they were role models, trailblazers, and women whose influence touched countless people on the flight deck and well beyond,” Navy officials said in a statement.

They were dropped back into the sea by the ship's crew, who had gathered on the flight deck to watch.
