Santos said a software issue affecting safety systems on board the BW Opal floating production storage and offloading unit had led to an unplanned shutdown of around two weeks last month.

A technical team from Oslo, Norway would arrive at the vessel later Wednesday to investigate the incident, BW LNG AS said.

"Chinese companies move here mostly to serve their clients who moved earlier," said BW Industrial Development's Chan.

Those investments will create nearly 537,000 jobs a year for a decade, according to an analysis by BW Research commissioned by The Nature Conservancy.
