Researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University have developed a promising new method to repair spinal fractures using stem cells extracted from adipose tissue, or body fat.

“Under the microscope you see a lot of inflammatory infiltrate in the adipose tissue,” Coviello said.

To take the research further, the team plans to leverage single-cell technology to investigate more tissues such as muscle and adipose.

The researchers are investigating, among other things, how hormone treatment affects skeletal muscle gene expression and the mechanisms behind changes in adipose tissue.
