Abraham's bosom

His Pulitzer Prize-winning 1927 play “In Abraham’s Bosom” is about an African American field worker eager to open a school for black children.

Kaskel: Yes, and that is why we have come unto Father Abraham’s bosom, seeking protection.

Kaskel: “Yes, and that is why we have come unto Father Abraham’s bosom, asking protection.”

They do not expect to be carried straight up into Abraham's bosom, and lie snugly there, whilst revengeful demons are torturing those who were, perhaps, nearest and dearest to them down below.

“Yes,” Kaskel responded, “and that is why we have come unto Father Abraham’s bosom, asking protection.”
