Halligan charged Comey a few days after she arrived, on allegations that he lied to Congress in testimony five years ago.

The charges allege that Comey lied to Congress in September 2020 when he stood by earlier testimony that he did not authorize a leak of an FBI investigation involving Hillary Clinton.

He lied about nearly every aspect of the hydrogen-fueled-truck company’s business, briefly boosting it to a valuation higher than Ford Motor’s.

The accusation that she lied triggered a separate investigation by the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, the law enforcement accreditation board, putting her at risk of losing her police officer license.

The federal government alleges Mr Comey lied to Congress during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in September 2020 when he was being questioned about both the Clinton investigation as well as the Russia election probe.
