The protests erupted in late September, after the deaths of eight pregnant women during Caesarean sections at a hospital in Agadir, in southern Morocco, sparked anger over conditions at public health facilities.

A woman who went into hospital for a planned Caesarean section and ended up in a coma for four days has said she remains traumatised by her experience.

Last week, she said, doctors had to conduct an emergency Caesarean on a nine-month pregnant woman whose head had been blown off.
